Diaporos was launched in 2007 with the 2005 vintage, celebrating ten years of Kir-Yianni. At once, it became very popular among the friends of the brand and is considered today by many as one of the best, if not the best, Greek red. The Syrah’s touch on the best Xinomavro of the Kir-Yianni Estate, is perhaps what makes the difference!
In the 2008 vintage the blend is 87% Xinomavro and 13% Syrah. That year, Xinomavro’s harvest was earlier than ever. The 2008 Diaporos has a deep, ruby color and aromas of ripe black fruit, plum, dark chocolate and pepper. The well-structured tannins and its full body balance perfectly with the alcohol and the acidity of the wine. A great 11-year old red wine that shows the ageing potential of Xinomavros and their transformation over time.
100 bottles of the 2008 vintage will be made available through Warehouse 10.
