YIANAKOHORI 2001
Yianakohori village is near Naoussa, in North Greece, where Yiannis Boutaris first bought 50 ha of land in 1968. Two decades later, the Estate gave a birth to a new blend when Kir-Yiannis dared to mix the exuberant Xinomavro with the cosmopolitan Merlot, a pioneering action for that period. So, the legendary “Yianakohori” was born!
The vintage of 2001 was a milestone for the label with unique weather conditions which led to the normal ripening of the two grape varieties. After 19 years the wine has robust body while the fruity aromas are still recognizable. Due to the maturing in the bottle some earthy characteristics are emerged while dominant flavors are the sun-dried tomato and black olives.
